Exciting News for 2022!

Hello Fellow HUCD Alumni!

Happy New Year and I hope that this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy!

I would like to start by saying that these past two years have been an unusual challenge for all of us, but hopefully as we have endured these challenges, they have made us stronger individually and collectively.

The Howard University College of Dentistry Alumni Association (HUCDAA) has also had its challenges, but we are definitely on the mend and we are planning to build and rebuild to be stronger than before. That being said, we need to pull together and building our ACTIVE ALUMNI membership base. HUCDAA exist solely to support the Howard University College of Dentistry (HUCD) and we are excited to have a few projects in the works.

We are proud to have Ms. Tiffany Gadson who has graciously offered to help us with some administrative duties to aid the executive board carry out these projects. Ms. Gadson’s first role will be to start and continue a membership drive for HUCDAA so the association will be able to have the necessary support it needs to carry out the projects for HUCD. Please consider joining or renewing your HUCDAA membership for $105.00. We hope to use those funds to strengthen our ties between Alumni and HUCD activities, progress and needs.

Some current projects, other than membership, that we are working on are:

1: Raising funds for HUCD students and faculty to go to various outreach sites and mission trips around the United States and Internationally. HUCD Alumni and HUCD professor Gillian Robinson-Warner (HUCD Class of 1996) is Chairwoman of the newly formed HUCDAA Outreach Committee whose purpose is to obtain grants and donations to aid the students and faculty in their outreach and missions' endeavors.

2: Dr. Tawana Feimster, HUCD Class of 2003, has served as HUCDAA Continuing Education Coordinator and has formed our new Continuing Education Program. We have an exciting line up of speakers to start a series of virtual CE courses this year.

3: Aiding/Assisting each dental class to form a continuous monthly financial support program that will help Dean Andrea Jackson to help with various needs in and around HUCD.

4: Establish incoming Freshmen Scholarship fund to attract and retain top dental candidates.
